Magnitude 6.3 earthquake hits Turkey-Syria border, tremors felt in Israel and adjoining areas as well

A magnitude of 6.3 earthquakes struck the Turkey-Syria border region, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) informed on Monday.

The quake occurred at a depth of two km (1.2 miles) beneath the earth’s surface, and tremors were also felt in Israel, Egypt and Lebanon.

According to two Reuters correspondents, the tremors were intense and long-lasting, destroying structures and leaving dust in the night air in central Antakya. According to Reuters, it was also felt in Egypt and Lebanon.

AFAD has recorded more than 6,000 aftershocks since the 7.8-magnitude quake hit Turkey and Syria.
