On Monday, a senior citizen who was denied boarding because he was running late for his flight hoaxed a bomb threat, sending the security system at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport into a frenzy.
A bomb was found aboard a flight leaving from RGI Airport for Chennai, according to a passenger identified as Ajmeer Bhadraiah (59), a native of Kapra. Also, he made it clear that the plane needed to be stopped right away.
The Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) gathered quickly and started investigating the call. The call, however, was deemed a hoax following a careful investigation.
The man arrived late at the airport, according to RGI Airport Inspector R Srinivas, and the airline employee refused to let him board. He got into a fight with the employees and threatened to cancel the flight. He immediately dialled 100 to notify the police control room that flight 6E-6151 was carrying a bomb. An alert was sounded at the airport, and the message was flashed to the neighbourhood police station, the man stated.
