An earthquake of 3.9 magnitude strikes Shillong, Meghalaya

The National Institute for Seismology of India said that Shillong, Meghalaya experienced an earthquake of magnitude 3.9 on Thursday morning, adding to the string of quakes. According to the reports, the earthquake occurred 46 kilometres beneath the epicentre. In Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills District, the epicentre was close to Shillong. On February 16, 2023, at 8:56 a.m., an earthquake occurred. But, after the NCS evaluates their data, it’s possible to reexamine the precise magnitude, epicentre, and depth of the earthquake. The report claimed that slight shaking was detected in adjacent towns and cities.

The areas which felt the tremors include Cherrapunji, Chhatak, Mairang, Nongstoin. The National Centre for Seismology announced an earthquake of 4.3 on the Richter scale that has hit the town of Yuksom in Sikkim. The tremors were felt at around 4:15am and at a depth of 10 kilometres on Monday.
