The Mangrove Alliance for Climate (MAC), featuring India as a partner, was established at the Conference of Parties’ (COP27) 27th session. The Mangrove Alliance for Climate (MAC), a project led by the UAE and Indonesia, also involves Spain, Japan, Australia, Australia, and Sri Lanka.
It aims to raise awareness about the potential benefits of mangroves as a climate change solution and the role they play in reducing global warming.
Due to the voluntary nature of the intergovernmental alliance’s operations, there are no genuine checks and balances in place to hold members accountable.
The parties will instead set their own timelines and obligations for planting and rehabilitating mangroves. Additionally, the members will collaborate and support one another in their research, management, and coastal area protection efforts.
