Who are Dawoodi Bohra’s?

There are more than 40 nations where the Muslim group known as the Dawoodi Bohras live. The Bohra community, led by His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, is often well-educated, entrepreneurial, and qualified in a variety of professions. They have a unique culture, work to maintain their traditions while embracing modernity, and are committed to making the world a better place via their peaceful, law-abiding, and active citizenship.

History of Dawoodi Bohra’s?

Dawoodi Bohra Muslims trace their heritage to the Fatimi Imams, direct descendants of the Prophet Mohammed, in Egypt. The Dawoodi Bohras throughout the world are guided by their leader known as the al-dai al-mutlaq (unrestricted missionary), who first operated from Yemen and then, for the last 450 years, from India.

Location of Dawoodi Bohra?

The Dawoodi Bohras of today are often well-educated, successful entrepreneurs, and competent experts in many industries. The Dawoodi Bohras, a community of around 1 million people, have established themselves in more than 40 nations throughout the world to practise their religion and live fulfilling lives. Despite having sizable congregations in Pakistan, Yemen, East Africa, and the Middle East as well as expanding numbers in Europe, North America, South East Asia, and Australia, the majority of Dawoodi Bohra community members reside in India.

Values of Dawoodi Bohra?

The Dawoodi Bohras are bound together by a set of tenets that date back hundreds of years: unwavering devotion to the faith, genuine affection for the nations in which they reside, belief in the importance of society, education, women’s empowerment, interaction with other faiths, physical health and well-being, and a duty to protect the environment and all living things. Wherever they dwell, Bohras have always been devoted and law-abiding citizens. To promote concord and goodwill, they have maintained friendly ties with a variety of administrations.

From mughal emperors to the British Raj as well as with modern-day political parties, the dais has looked for common ground on which to lay the foundations for mutual understanding that can lead to betterment for all.

The Bohras’ unique blend of religiosity and modernity along with the way they contribute positively towards the development and prosperity of the places they live in gives them a special place wherever they may reside.

Bohras pray through the holiest night of sacred Ramzan

A night in the month of Ramadan known as “lailatul qadr” or “shab-e-qadr” is said to be extraordinarily lucky. All Muslims in the community observe this night by praying all night long. The hours, which need prayers and the offering of namaz from dusk to dawn, are variably referred to as the night of decree and destiny.
They observed the night of prayer on Thursday because the Dawoodi Bohra calendar is somewhat different from the Islamic calendar.

Every year, the masjid is exquisitely adorned to allow the neighbourhood’s residents to worship from dusk till morning. They observed it at home this year, though, with internet videos and prayers that were recorded. Most pious people pray and do namaz all night long, stopping only when the light comes up.
