Lata Mangeshkar
Indian playback singer and songwriter Lata Mangeshkar was active in the motion picture industry. She is renowned for being one of India’s best and most significant vocalists. For her services to the Indian music industry over the course of a seven-decade career, she has earned the titles “Queen of Melody,” “Nightingale of India,” and “Voice of the Millennium.” At age 92, Mangeshkar passed away from multiple organ failure syndromes on February 6, 2022.
Pandit Birju Maharaj
The Lucknow “Kalka-Bindadin” Gharana was home to Indian Kathak dancer, composer, and singer Pandit Birju Maharaj. His father and guru, Acchan Maharaj, his two uncles, Shambhu Maharaj and Lachhu Maharaj, were all Kathak dancers. Additionally, he was a singer who sang Hindustani classical music. Alongside his uncle Shambhu Maharaj, he worked at Bhartiya Kala Kendra and then the Kathak Kendra in New Delhi. After several years as the latter’s director, he retired in 1998 and opened his own dance school, Kalashram, also in Delhi. A month before turning 85, on January 16, 2022, he passed away at his Delhi residence from a heart attack.
Pandit Shivkumar Sharma
Indian classical musician and santoor player Pandit Shivkumar Sharma is credited with adapting the instrument for use in Indian traditional music. He collaborated as Shiv-Hari with Indian flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia and composed the music for several Indian movies, such as Faasle (1985), Chandni (1989), and Lamhe (1993). (1990). (1991). Sharma passed away on May 10, 2022, from a heart attack. When he passed away, he was 84 years old. He received a state funeral on May 11, 2022, at Mumbai’s Pawan Hans Juhu airport.
T Rama Rao-Tatineni Rama Rao
Tatineni Rama Rao was an Indian filmmaker who lived from 1938 to April 20, 2022. Between 1966 and 2000, he directed 75 Hindi and Telugu feature films. Rao began his cinema career as an assistant director for his cousin T. Prakash Rao and Kotayya Pratyagatma in the late 1950s, before making his directorial debut with the Telugu film Navarathri in 1966. Rao was “the man who created the ‘Madras cinema,’ or Hindi films backed primarily by southern wealth, as a viable commercial choice in the all-India market,” according to Encyclopaedia Britannica. Tatineni Rama Rao, a veteran Telugu cinema director, died in the early hours of April 20, 2022, at a private hospital in Chennai. He was 84 years old when he died.
Arun Bali
Arun Bali, an Indian actor who passed away on October 7, 2022, starred in numerous motion pictures and television programmes. In the 1991 historical drama Chanakya, he portrayed King Porus; in the Doordarshan soap opera Swabhimaan, he portrayed Kunwar Singh; and in the divisive Hey Ram film, he portrayed Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, the Chief Minister of undivided Bengal. He became well-known in the 2000s for playing “grandfatherly” parts and even taking home prizes for them, like Harshvardhan Wadhwa in Kumkum. On October 7, 2022, at the age of 79, he passed away at home in a suburb of Mumbai after undergoing myasthenia gravis medication.
Sandhya Mukherjee
Geetashree India’s Sandhya Mukherjee was a playback vocalist and guitarist who sang in Bengali. For her roles in the movies Jay Jayanti and Nishi Padma, she won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 1970. On January 27, Sandhya Mukherjee was admitted to SSKM Hospital due to breathlessness. She was later sent to Apollo Gleneagles Hospital after a COVID-19 test revealed she had the virus. Additionally, she experienced lung infections, hypotension, ischemic heart disease, multiple organ failure, and a fractured left femur. She was doing better under medication, tested negative for COVID-19, and underwent a successful femoral surgery on February 11. Vikram Gokhale
Vikram Gokhale was a renowned Marathi and Hindi theatre artist and film star and the son of famous Marathi theatre and film actor Chandrakant Gokhale. Vikram Gokhale played several important roles in both the Hindi and the Marathi film industry and also had a directorial debut with the Marathi film Aaghat. KK-Krishnakumar Kunnath
Playback singer KK, also known as Krishnakumar Kunnath, was well-known in India. Among other languages, he sang in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, and Gujarati. KK made his acting debut in a movie with an A.R. Rahman score after starting his career singing commercial jingles. His first album, Pal, came out in 1999. At the Nazrul Mancha auditorium in South Kolkata on May 31, 2022, KK performed live music as a part of the Gurudas College festival. After his performance, he complained of feeling sick and had a heart attack on the way back to his hotel. He was brought to the Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) about 10:30 p.m., where he was declared dead.
Ravi Tandon
Ravi Tandon (17 February 1935 – 11 February 2022) was an Indian film director and producer. He also worked as an assistant director and story writer. He is the father of actress Raveena Tandon.Ravi Tandon directed a number of hit movies, the most popular among these are Khel Khel Mein, Anhonee, Nazrana, Majboor, Khud-daar, Zindagi. Ravi Tandon was born in a Punjabi family in Agra. His directorial venture Nazrana with Rajesh Khanna in the lead was the 5th highest grosser of the year in 1987. He died of respiratory failure at his residence in Mumbai on 11 February 2022, at the age of 86, just six days before his 87th birthday.
Praveen Kumar Sobti
Praveen Kumar Sobti (6 December 1947 – 7 February 2022) was an Indian hammer and discus thrower, film actor, politician, and soldier with Border Security Force. As a 20 year old he joined then newly raised Border Security Force from where he attracted the attention of his officers through his fine athletic skills and went to represent India at various athletic events in “Discus throw”. As an athlete he won four medals at the Asian Games, including two gold medals, won a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games and competed in two Olympics. As an actor, he starred in more than 50 Hindi films and played the famous character of “Bheem” in B.R. Chopra’s television series Mahabharat that started in 1988. As a politician he contested the 2013 Delhi Legislative elections on an Aam Aadmi Party ticket, but lost. Subsequently, in 2014, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Sobti died from a heart attack in New Delhi on the night of 7 February 2022, at the age of 74.
Maya Govind
Poet and songwriter Maya Govind, who sparked to prominence with the endearing romance riddle, ‘Nainon mein darpan hai’ (film: Aarop, 1974) and went on to become the most popular female lyricist of her time in Hindi films, passed away following a heart attack at her Mumbai residence on Thursday. She was 82 and ailing for some time. “She had a blood clot in her brain which created a lot of other health issues,” her son Ajay told PTI.
Siddhaant Vir Surryavanshi
Known for his roles in Mamta and Kasautii Zindagii kay, Sidhhaant Vir Surryavanshi was a popular Indian television actor. He started out in Ekta Kapoor’s Kkusum and had a career spanning over 21 years. He was a beloved actor whose sudden death shocked millions. Like Raju Shrivastav, he too suffered a possible cardiac arrest on 11th November of this year while working out and passed away at the young age of 46.
Shiv Kumar Subramaniam
Shiv Kumar Subramaniam (23 December 1959 – 10 April 2022) was an Indian actor and screenwriter who is known for his role as the leading industrial tycoon I. M. Virani in the Indian television serial Mukti Bandhan on Colors channel. He is credited with writing the screenplay for the 1989 film Parinda, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and for the 2005 film Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, directed by Sudhir Mishra. He also appeared in supporting roles in both films. He died from an illness on 10 April 2022.

Mithilesh Chaturvedi (15 October 1954 – 3 August 2022) was an Indian film and theatre actor. Chaturvedi worked in Koi… Mil Gaya, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Krrish, Satya, Mohalla Assi, and web series like Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. He has performed with directors including Prem Tiwari, Kunwar Kalyan Singh, Bansi Kaul, Surya Mohan Kulshrestha, Dina Nath, Urmil Thapliyal, and Anupam Kher. He died on 3 August 2022 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
