Context–  A geographical indication (GI) tag has been demanded for one of the costliest mushrooms in the world that grows in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district. 

It is one of the costliest mushroom in the world which is known for its spongy, honeycombed head and savoury flavour

Locally called Gucchi, or Morel, the mushroom, priced at over ₹20,000 a kg, is a forest produce collected by local farmers and tribals.

They are rich in antioxidants and anti microbial properties that prevent health issues like heart diseases and diabetes.

They are rich in protein, potassium, copper, carbohydrates, and vitamins
