Servants of Indian Society was founded by the Indian political leader and sociall reformer GOPAL KRISHNA GOKHALE. He left the Deccan Education Society to form this association.
Formation Date- The Servants of India Society was formed in Pune, Maharashtra, on June 12, 1905.
Aim- Its aim is to build a dedicated group of people for social service and reforms. In the field of famine relief, union organisation, cooperatives and uplift of tribals and depressed, the Society did commendable work.
Supporters- Gopal Krishna Deodhar, Anant Patwardhan, Natesh Appaji Dravid, etc.
Commendable works- This society worked in the field of promoting essential of Education, removal of Untouchability, promotion of sanitation and healthcare, many others.
Publication – It also published its newsletter titled “Hitavada” in English from Nagpur in 1911.
The Servants of Indian Society still exists and has its serving headquarter in Pune(Maharastra).
