It’s time for next generation to take over Indian team’: Virat Kohli

BUT STILL TIGER ZINDA HAI

Virat Kohli, who won the World Cup’s Man of the Match award, has announced his retirement from Twenty20 cricket. India won the T20 World Cup on an emotional day after defeating South Africa, who lost by seven runs in the final over, to end their 11-year wait for a worldwide championship.

The cornerstone of India’s seven-run triumph over South Africa came from Kohli’s match-winning 59-ball 76, which included six fours and two sixes. This knock lifted India from a dangerous 34 for three during the PowerPlay to a formidable 176 for seven.

After winning Man-of-the-Match, Kohli declared that it was his final Twenty20 International match for India.

After India’s first victory in a major international competition in eleven years, Kohli told the broadcaster, “This was my last T20 World Cup, this is exactly what we wanted to achieve.”

“God is fantastic, because just when you think you can’t run anymore, this happens. It’s simply the right occasion—a situation where it’s either now or never.
